Crazy for feeling so blue

Performance

Crazy for feeling so blue is a performance that was made during a workshop with artist Helga Rosenfeldt-Olsen while I was attending the LungA art school in Seydisfjördur, Iceland.

The performance took place over the time span of one hour, during which small groups of people successively came into the pink painted shower where I was performing. Every time a new group came in, I put on Patsy Cline’s song "Crazy" and chose a random person in the group that I dedicated the song to, singing for that one person only. I looked them straight in the eyes during the entire song, carefully ignoring everyone else.

The song is addressed to someone who broke the singer's heart. She is asking herself what she did wrong and is blaming herself because she can't stop loving that person. In singing the song to a stranger, I put them in the place of the person who broke my heart, desperately seeking an answer to my heartbreak and thus creating an intense temporary bond between us.
